After the Chaldea enjoyed long centuries of peace and prosperity, the fall time comes to Chaldea once-vigorous civilization of which stagnated. There are few new scientific or magical advances coming into being, and people here once modest and motivate grew content, complacent and set in their ways. For example, trade still united the land, however the rule of Ashur faded. After a while, the different regions were practically self-governed, the distant emperor was only left symbolic allegiance.
That mattered little the long peace still lasted. Twin disasters would ultimately strike, bringing an end to more than two millennia of Chaldean civilization.
