Clubs of 1H melee skill has the lower base damage, and its metal armor is weaker to bludgeoning. The extra damage against metal does not outweigh the lower damage overall. In the case you like what the weapon brings to you, you’d better off going Axes.
As for its Sithras, the only 1handed weapons that are viable on foot is its Sithras. They can produce great damage, and its range is decent. You should better hold a shield while using one, and they scare the shit out of people. To darkfall players disappoint, it is very incredibly expensive to make them. Due to the cost of making them, obviously it is not a good option for new players. They are not able to afford them.
